Location

Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Specifications

To provide pedestal system to support bearers for installation of wooden decking at the sky bar lounge and a pathway skirting the pool at the rooftop of the hotel.

Solution

The wooden-decked pathway was installed along the side of the swimming pool by placing VersiJack pedestal supports at the perimeter raised ledge of the pool. The raised decking allows water from the pool to overflow over the pool’s edge under the decking into the drain alongside to be channeled, filtered and returned back into the pool. The booths skirting the pool beside windows with commanding views of the city are separated from the pool by the raised wooden decking which provides a pathway for accessibility to the booths as well as helps to keep the booths and their water-sensitive furnishings dry. The mould and algae resistant pedestals do not become mouldy and unsightly even when constantly wet.
Raised wooden decking platforms at the lounge booths of the Sky Bar by the poolside were also installed using VersiJack height and slope adjustable pedestals. Bearer Holders mounted on the pedestal tops enabled secure positioning of joists. Required services for the lounge were unobtrusively hidden in the void space created beneath the wooden decking.

DOUBLE BAY RESIDENCES

Location

17-21D Simei Street 4, Singapore

Specifications

To provide green wall system to establish vertical greenery on the clubhouse façade, including the convex wall face of the 2nd level, and also a free-standing wall at the main entrance to the condominium.

Solution

Vertical Greening Modules (VGM), each containing a geotextile bag filled with EnviroMix® GW, a primarily inorganic soil-less lightweight planting media, were pre-planted in a controlled nursery environment. This process allows the selected plants to be firmly established and also vertically orientated before installation.
The living walls cover 140 sq m of the clubhouse façade. VGM modules were anchored onto stainless steel pilasters bolted to the concrete wall to a height of 15 m which includes the convex wall of the second level. At the fifth level, the VGM modules were bolted directly onto a metal framework, which enables pairs of adjacent vertical rows of VGM modules to swing inwards like windows. This allows easy maintenance access to the VGM modules mounted 15 m from ground level.
A 56 sq m living wall anchored onto a free-standing metal framework at the entrance, greets residents and visitors to the condominium. The Elmich VGM Green Walls blend seamlessly with the condominium’s landscape gardens to provide a visually appealing green environment and also help in the condominium’s environmental objectives.

Teban Vista

Location

23 Teban Gardens Road, Singapore

Specifications

To provide stormwater infiltration system to manage rainwater runoff from the landscaped grounds of the HDB estate.

Solution

VersiTanks were assembled on site and positioned within excavated pits of various shapes and sizes in accordance with the landscaped garden design. The base of each excavated pit was first compacted and filled with 100 mm layer of washed sand. A geotextile layer was then laid to envelope the VersiTanks installed within the pits. Washed sand was used as infill up to 100mm above the tank installation to create “dry ponds”. Planting media was added to enable planting around the perimeter of the dry pond features.
Forming a “rain garden”, the VersiTank installation, acts as a stormwater detention facility that decreases peak flows and filters suspended solids and pollutants from runoff. Aboveground phytoremediation by plants filter particulates and their associated pollutants from runoff. The system prevents waterlogged grounds and creates attractive green landscape features that enhance aesthetics of the HDB Estate.

Firefly Park @ Clementi

Location

304 Clementi Ave 4, Singapore

Specifications

To provide green alternative to concrete drains within the park to control, manage and reduce rainwater runoff from the park at source.

Solution

VersiTanks were assembled on site and positioned within linear excavations in accordance with the landscape design of the park to allow water to flow and be channeled to outlets where the gradient of the park is lowest for discharge into the local drainage network.
A 100mm layer of coarse sand was first placed at the base of the excavated trenches and compacted. A geotextile was laid to completely envelope VersiTank installed in a continuous row within the trenches. The geotextile filter fabric allows rainwater to percolate through into the tank below but not suspended solids. Sumps were installed at intervals along the length of the swale to facilitate maintenance and easy inspection. The excavations were filled in with coarse sand up to 100mm above the geotextile.
The bioswale allows drainage within the park to be vegetated replacing conventional concrete drains which do not blend into the greenery of the park. Phytoremediation by the plants of the vegetated swale helps to remove organic contaminants and reduce suspended pollutants carried by runoff at source. In addition to allowing the overall landscape design of the park to remain seamlessly green, the system prevents waterlogged grounds and enables the integration of more usable recreational space within the park.
The slow percolation and infiltration process together with the inherent water retention capability of the bioswale network also minimises downstream impact from high volumes of water in downpours that often cause flooding.

To provide pedestal system to support bearers for installation of wooden decking over sloping surface of a former putting green.

Solution

VersiJack® pedestals were used to support bearers for installation of the raised wooden decking. A combination of different VersiJack® pedestals were used to allow various adjustments to different heights on the sloping surface of the defunct putting green of the condominium. Slope Correctors were used on the pedestals to enable a level decking surface to be maintained whilst supporting bearers were secured to Bearer Holders on the pedestals to ensure that they do not shift and remained firmly in place during and after installation of the wooden decking. Integrated Locking Rings enabled confirmed pedestal heights to be secured.
The finished wooden 80 m2 decking platform enabled the unusual sloping ground of the former putting green to be transformed into a level recreational space that blends into the landscaped gardens and luxuriant greenery of the condominium.
