Flexicoat

What is Flexicoat

Flexicoat is a liquid-applied, single-component waterborne acrylic waterproofing coating for roofing applications. It forms a seamless elastomeric waterproofing membrane in an exposed or protected system.

Flexicoat offers exceptional elongation and flexibility, capable of withstanding day-to-day fluctuations in temperature. When reinforced with a layer of fiberglass, Flexicoat has high tensile strength and prolonged durability.

Flexicoat may be applied on most surfaces including concrete, stone, brick, cement blocks, tiled surfaces, and metal. It can be cold-applied by brush, roller, or waterproofing sprayers.

Flexicoat is available in a variety of colours to complement the finishes of buildings, allowing the roofing system to match the overall appearance of the building.

Site Preparation
Surfaces on to which Flexicoat™  is to be applied should be dry, smooth, sound, and free from honeycombs, protrusions, voids, laitance, dust, loose material, paint, oil, incompatible curing agent, or any other contaminants. Blockwork should be smooth rendered and brickwork flush pointed.

Application

  • Flexicoat™ should be stirred with a low-speed drill with a purpose-made paddle before application.
  • Flexicoat™ should be applied by roller or brush to obtain a continuous, unbroken film. Two coats are recommended, allowing the first to dry prior to application of the second. A dry film thickness of 0.8 mm is recommended over concrete and block surfaces.
  • Extremely porous substrates or weak areas should be reinforced with additional Flexicoat™ coating. Where movement is expected, a reinforcing mesh is recommended to embed between coating.
  • As with all waterproofing treatment, it is essential that Flexicoat™ is protected from mechanical damage during subsequent construction work unless in exposed applications.
  • Flexicoat™  when applied onto water-saturated substrates will exhibit “blistering” which can be rectified by having a vacuum suction or vent-port at substrate’s weak areas or weighed down with a layer of protection screed.
  • Flexicoat™  should be applied at a rate of 0.8 kg/m2/coat
