To establish two high-quality large-sized green walls at the main entrance and carpark entrance of the condominium.

Solution

Green Walls at Main Entrance and Carpark Entrance

  • Pre-planted VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Trays were securely fastened onto welded mesh, establishing two high-quality large-sized green walls located at the main entrance and carpark entrance of the condominium.
  • Each VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Tray has a water reservoir with a cover designed to allow the re-use of stored water via capillary action to sustain plant growth during dry months. Excess water flows into underlying trays or is discharged through a drainage outlet, ensuring every plant receives the water they need for healthy growth.
  • Automated irrigation systems were also built into the green walls, releasing precise amounts of water at predetermined times to sustain the plants.

Specifications

To establish a high-quality massive-sized green wall at the Raintree Plaza, two large-sized green walls at the semi-shaded bleaches/staircase with seating, and a medium-sized green wall at the Beauty Galleria (Retail Storefront).

  • 190 sqm of pre-planted VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Trays were securely fastened onto VGP proprietary mounting panels, establishing a high-quality massive-sized green wall located within the Raintree Plaza (next to the northwest entrance of The Exchange).
  • Each VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Tray has a water reservoir with a cover designed to allow the re-use of stored water via capillary action to sustain plant growth during dry months. Excess water flows into underlying trays or is discharged through a drainage outlet, ensuring every plant receives the water they need for healthy growth.
  • Automated irrigation systems were also built into the green walls, releasing precise amounts of water at predetermined times to sustain the plants.

Green Walls at The Exchange TRX (Image 5 to 6)

Wheelchair Accessible Ramp - 1000mm Height Raised Deck Construction - Condominium Sky Terrace

Specifications

To establish raised composite decks and pavers at the condominium’s sky terraces (Sky Garden).

Solution

Constructing Wheelchair Accessible Ramp (Image 1 to 5)
Top and Bottom Slope Correctors were affixed on the VersiJack® pedestals’ top and base respectively to establish the gradual inclination of the wheelchair accessible ramp. The aluminium joists rested on the bearer holders and were secured in place with screws. The composite deck boards were then fastened onto the joists. Barrel Extenders were stacked onto the VersiJack® pedestals for additional height. As the specified pedestal heights were more than 500 mm, a proprietary bracing system (VJ Brace) was included for additional lateral stability.

Deck by Panoramic Sky Pool (Image 6 to 11)
Installation similar to constructing the Wheelchair Accessible Ramp (excluding the bottom slope corrector). Resistance to mould and algae renders VersiJack® pedestals ideally suitable for installations in constantly wet and damp environments.

Deck at Sky Gourmet Pavilion & Sky Lounge 2 (Image 12 to 16)
Installation similar to constructing the Wheelchair Accessible Ramp (excluding the slope correctors and VJ Brace). VersiJack® pedestals allow unsightly services (e.g. pipes and electrical cables) to be concealed within the cavity under the elevated platform allowing easy access when required.

Children’s Playground & Sky Lounge 1 (Image 17 to 19)
VersiJack® pedestals were also installed to support the raised pavers at the Children’s Playground and Sky Lounge 1. A layer of porous EPDM rubber flooring/artificial turf was then installed onto the pavers.

VersiTank - Stormwater Management - Private Residence

Private Residence | Hidden Channel Drainage System

Location

Orchard Road, Singapore

Specifications

To construct a channel drainage system around the perimeters of the house.

Solution

  1. A  50 m3 pit was excavated around the perimeters of the house.
  2. VersiTank® modules enveloped with a permeable geotextile fabric were installed in the pit, covered with coarse sand and topped with planting soil, forming an underground channel drainage system which doubles as a rainwater harvesting and detention system (Image 1 & 2).
  3. This system reduces irrigation requirements as rainwater captured and stored beneath the ground is channeled to the plants via the permeable geotextile fabric.
  4. VersiTank® modules enveloped with a permeable geotextile fabric were also installed as a void filler within the planter boxes. (Image 2)

Solution

700sqm of VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Trays were mounted on aluminium panels, establishing high-quality medium to massive-sized lush green walls by the outdoor swimming pool, at the rooftop terraces, by the infinity pool, on the hotel’s façade, and at the lobby’s pick-up/drop off point.

Automated irrigation systems were also built into the green walls, releasing precise amounts of water at predetermined times to sustain the plants.

VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 is designed with multiple security features to prevent its accidental dislodgement during high winds. A six-point anchoring system, combined with anti-lift tabs, keeps the trays firmly in place even with wind speeds of up to 108km/h.

Each VersiWall® GP (VGP) 2060 Tray has a water reservoir with a cover designed to allow re-use of stored water via capillary action to sustain plant growth during dry months. Excess water flows into underlying trays or is discharged through a drainage outlet, ensuring every plant receives the water they need for healthy growth.

Solution

Establish Fire Engine Accessway at Community Lawn (Image 1)
Emergency fire engine access areas were created on the community lawn using TurfPave® XD grass pavers installed beneath the ground. TurfPave® XD’s porous structure allows rainwater to infiltrate the ground, protecting the grass roots against compaction and effectively supporting loads imposed by large fire trucks and human traffic.

Provide Drainage System Beneath Intensive Green Roofs (Image 2 to 4)
VersiCell® lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were installed beneath the planting soil at the butterfly garden on level 2 and therapeutic gardens on the roof terraces on level 3 to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.

Provide Drainage System Beneath Extensive Green Roofs (Image 5 to 12)
VersiCell® lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were also installed beneath the top planting media on the building’s structure, pick-up/drop-off point shelter, and covered walkways to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.

Establish Sustainable Stormwater Management System (Image 13 to 16)
VersiTank® modular detention/retention tanks were assembled to construct ABC Waters design features, such as bioretention basins, earth drains and bioswales, that aid in sustainable stormwater management.

Solar Green Roof at Pulau Ubin

To construct a Green Roof system beneath solar panels on the metal roof.

Solution

  1. VersiDrain® 30 trays, VersiEdge™ and EnviroMix® GR were hoisted onto the metal roof (Image 1).
  2. VersiEdge™ was installed along the edges of the metal roof to create a vertical barrier to retain media and prevent erosion (Image 2).
  3. 1,700 m2 of VersiDrain® 30 trays (water retention and drainage layers) were installed and solar panel substructure was bolted on the metal roof (Image 3 & 4).
  4. Geotextile was laid on top of VersiDrain® 30 trays and EnviroMix® GR planting media spread over entire planting area (Image 5)

To provide temporary ground cover for event areas and pedestrian pathways for participants.

Solution

TrackGard® was deployed within the vicinities of The Promontory @ Marina Bay to create temporary event areas and pedestrian pathways.

The hexagonal design of each TrackGard® tile allows for interlocking supports on all six sides to provide excellent strength and durability for heavy foot traffic. The non-slip surface of TrackGard® prevented accidental slipping due to wet floor conditions brought about by the rain and provided a mud-free walkway for participants.

Solution

Elmich’s VersiJack® height and slope adjustable pedestals were used to support the raised pavers on The Gate Hotel Tokyo’s open terraces at level 4. Unsightly services are hidden beneath the raised pavers but are readily accessible for maintenance when required. Necessary adjustments for height were made with the screw and locking ring system in the pedestal creating a level surface for members and guests.

To establish fire-resistant raised timber decks at the outdoor seating areas of the cafes and restaurants.

Solution

Due to the stringent fire & safety building requirements of this project, a fire-resistant version of VersiJack® (i.e. VersiJack® F FR) height & slope adjustable pedestals and aluminium joists were installed to support the raised timber decks of the outdoor seating areas of the cafes and restaurants. Unsightly services are hidden beneath the raised timber decks but are readily accessible for maintenance when required. Necessary height adjustments were made with the screw and locking ring system in the pedestal, creating a level surface for members and guests.
