Marina Bay Street Circuit, Singapore

To provide temporary ground cover for event areas and pedestrian pathways for Formula 1 spectators.

TrackGard^® was deployed across more than 30 areas within the vicinities of the Marina Bay Street Circuit to create temporary event areas and pedestrian pathways.

The hexagonal design of each TrackGard^® tile allows for interlocking supports on all six sides to provide excellent strength and durability for heavy foot traffic. The non-slip surface of TrackGard^® prevented accidental slipping due to wet floor conditions brought about by the rain and provided a mud-free walkway for spectators.

Upcycled Art Structure (Image 3 & 4)

Over 300 VersiTank^® 555 and 553 modules were assembled and fastened with industrial cable ties to form the enormous art structure. Steel rods were used to support the cantilever construction.

Edible Community Garden – 28 Dover Crescent, Singapore

To construct a sustainable edible garden in under 2 months.

Designer’s Comments – Breakdown of Structures:

VersiTank^® modules were assembled to form garden structures of varying heights and configurations:

“VersiTower” (Image 2)

A two-meter-high tower for the creeper plants was constructed by vertically stacking and interlocking VersiTank^® 555 modules with stainless steel wires. The VersiTank^® 555 modules at the keeps of the towers was cut at specific areas to allow access for gardeners to the planting soil. The VersiTank^® 555 modules at the base of the tower were filled with soil for stability as it acts as a gravitational counterweight for the tower.

Smaller and lighter VersiTank^® 553 modules were used to construct an arch between the towers. For structural stability and safety, two 25 x 25 mm aluminium square hollow sections were added, spanning through the arch sections.

Raised “VersiPlanter” (Image 4) 

Raised planters of varying heights were built, simply by stacking the MEP^® Tray on a VersiTank^® 553 and onto the “VersiPlanter” structure.

“Vertical Planter”

By installing the purpose-made aluminium carrier bars on the sides of the planters, vertical planter pots could be added to the garden.

One Farrer Hotel, Singapore

Establish a landscape deck that is resistant to mould and algae in the hotel’s open terraces at level 6.

VersiJack^® height and slope adjustable pedestals were used to support raised pavers on One Farrer Hotel’s newly renovated open terraces at level 6.

Splash Pad
1. A constant 4 mm gap between pavers maintained by Spacer Tabs mounted on the pedestal tops allows water issuing from the fountain spouts to seemingly disappear upon coming into contact with the paver surface, keeping areas beyond the boundaries of the raised paver area completely dry.

2. The pump mechanism and required cabling for the pump are safely and unobstructively hidden in the void space beneath the raised pavers.

3. A layer of porous EPDM rubber flooring was then installed onto the pavers.

Green Lawn (Artificial Turf)
VersiCell^® was installed to provide drainage beneath the artificial turf.

Show Gardens Competition at Singapore Garden Festival 2022, Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza

To provide pond lining and efficient sub-soil drainage.

VersiCell^® sub-surface drainage modules were installed to facilitate drainage and healthy plant growth in planter boxes.

The Pond Liner (Euraplan^®) which is impermeable was laid on the underlying Geotextile.

Universal Studios, Resort World Sentosa | Singapore

Plants are placed on 2 types of roof designs: a regular low-slope reinforced concrete flat roof and a sloped Corus Kalzip profiled metal roof.

Elmich Green Roof was constructed with VersiDrain^® 25P water retention and drainage layers, EnviroMix^® GRs, and VersiCell^® structural drainage, and insulation cells.

Fast-track construction of the Park demanded that the system be light and easy to install.

Evalon^® V was applied on all reinforced concrete roofs, decks, and landscaped roof gardens.

Fleximent^® 201 was applied on water-retaining structures (i.e. reinforced concrete water tanks).

Tuas Bay Lane, Singapore

To establish a modular underground water storage tank in a portable rainwater harvesting system in the solar farm.

1. An excavation was carried out at the site.
2. The excavated pit was levelled and checked for sharp objects.
3. The Pond Liner (Euraplan^®) which is impermeable was laid on the underlying Geotextile.
4. Several thousand sets of VersiTank^® 555 were deployed and installed in a linear format, interlocked one to the other in the pit.
5. VersiTank^® 555 was then covered with Euraplan^®, lapped, and sealed at all joints.
6. The pit and the entire tank installation were backfilled with sand to the appropriate level and topped with a layer of small aggregate.
7. The soil was compacted with a roller.

67 Pall Mall – The Singapore Club, Shaw Centre, Level 27

To establish raised timber decks at the club’s terraces that are resistant to mould and algae as the terraces are directly exposed to wet conditions, especially rain.

Elmich’s VersiJack^® height and slope adjustable pedestals and aluminium joists were used to support the raised timber decks at the club’s terraces. Unsightly services are hidden beneath the raised timber decks but are readily accessible for maintenance when required. Necessary adjustments for height were made with the screw and locking ring system in the pedestal creating a level surface for members and guests.

CapitaSpring – Project Glory, Central Business District (CBD) Singapore

To establish a raised wooden deck that is resistant to mould and algae in a constantly wet and damp environment by the poolside.

Elmich’s VersiJack^® height and slope adjustable pedestals were used to support the bearers beneath wooden planks for the installation of a raised wooden decked area beside the pool near the hotel lobby of Citadines Raffles Place at level 9. Unsightly services are hidden beneath the raised deck but are readily accessible for maintenance when required. Necessary adjustments for height were made with the screw and locking ring system in the pedestal creating a level surface for residents and visitors.

Singapore Garden Festival Hortshow, Jurong Lake Gardens

A modular green wall system for a small balcony of 36 square metres that is quick to install, sustainable, and meets local fire safety requirements.

Elmich VersiWall^®GP Metal (VGP M) system was used to establish the green wall in the balcony design titled “The Capsule Garden” by  G. G. Landscapes + Construction Pte Ltd.

The VGP M system is a modular vertical greening system manufactured using aluminium for indoor green walls that meet the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fire safety regulations of construction using non-combustible materials.

VGP M is exceptionally durable and can create free-standing green walls or be simply mounted onto concrete walls using either a proprietary rail mounted system or standard wire meshes.

In this installation, several rounded steel brackets were drilled into the plywood booth wall and a wire mesh metal frame was attached. VGP M trays brimming with various species of plants (i.e. Pteris albolineata, Philodendron birkin, Veera fern and Aglaonema auspicious) were then hooked and secured on the wire mesh metal frame.

Additional Information:
– VGP M may be planted in situ or carry up to two conventional 100 mm potted plants for greater interchangeability in temporary displays.

– Each VGP M tray conceals irrigation piping and has multiple drainage outlets to spread overflow over a larger surface onto the trays below.
