FORD AVENUE PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Location

Ford Avenue, Singapore

Specifications

To provide pedestal system for raised decking installed at swimming pool surrounds.

To provide paver supports for installation of raised walkway pavers.

Solution

Decking

VersiJack® pedestals support the timber bearers for the installation of raised deck flooring surrounding the swimming pool.

Bearer holders attached to the pedestals were used to keep the timber joists firmly in place prior to and during installation of the decking.

The void under the raised decked areas allow essential pipes and services to be unobtrusively hidden and assist surface water to drain away quickly which is especially important around a swimming pool.

Paving

VersiJack® pedestals support raised pavers for the creation of a side walkway of the house concealing any unsightly services beneath. Necessary adjustments for slope and height were made with the Slope Corrector and locking ring system in the pedestal respectively to create level flooring. The gaps, created by using Spacer Tabs on the pedestals, between the pavers facilitate drainage of water from the pavers back into the water feature.

FLO RESIDENCE

Location

Punggol Field Walk, Singapore

Specifications

To provide the pedestal system to support installation of pavers surrounding the swimming pool.

Solution

VersiJack® height and slope adjustable pedestals were used to support heavy 600 mm X 600 mm granite pavers surrounding the swimming pool of the condominium.

The use of Spacer Tabs secured on the top of the Elmich pedestal enabled constant gaps between pavers. This application eliminated the need for surface drains and allowed surface water to drain away rapidly, keeping the pavers dry for the safety of the residents and visitors.

As the installation surface was sloped, Slope Correctors were used to allow adjustments of up to 5% to maintain a level pool deck.

Moreover, the raised pool deck enabled essential M&E service pipes to be hidden in the void space created beneath the raised pavers. During maintenance and repair work, workers can easily access these service pipes by lifting the pavers, saving time and cost instead of being subjected to the risks of removing embedded pavers.

In addition, VersiJack®’s resistance to mould and algae makes it the perfect choice when used in wet areas.

Elmich Pedestals provide a very practical solution for desirable pool decks for different kind of projects with its versatile height range and models.

Overseas Family School

Location

Paris Ris Drive 3, Singapore

Specifications

To provide support pedestal for installation of decking.

Solution

6,500 VersiJack® pedestals were used to support bearers for installation of the raised wooden decking on the rooftops of the two Academic Blocks of the school. VersiJack® pedestals allowed easy screw adjustments to be made to bring the pedestals to the required installation heights. Thereafter, Integrated Locking Rings on the pedestals were used to lock and secure the confirmed heights during and after installation.

The 1,994 m2 of decking created turned the otherwise wasted bare rooftops into additional amenity space for the student population and staff of the school, and will inevitably become the preferred outdoor venue where organised events and other school activities may be conveniently staged and carried out within the safety of the school’s compound.

The raised decking also serves an environmental role by providing an effective shield above the rooftops. This reduces heat and sound transfer from the rooftop to the classrooms below, reducing energy consumption for air-conditioning, related energy costs, and also the carbon footprint of the school. Consequently, they also help to mitigate urban heat island effect.

Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Brisbane Australia

Location

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Specifications

To provide the green wall system to establish vertical greenery
To provide the green roof system to establish greenery on sloping roof
To provide pedestal support for installation of pavers

Solution

VersiWall® GM
Twelve free-standing metal framework structures were erected for pilasters to be secured for VGM modules to be anchored such that vertical greenery is possible all around the framework. Pre-planting of the VGM Modules in a nursery environment allowed selected plants to establish and be appropriately orientated prior to installation, creating lush green walls almost instantly at the hospital project at time of installation.</p>
Both the pitch roof and its retaining wall at the edge were also greened with the VGM system. Anchoring pilasters were installed directly onto the pitch roof and the wall for pre-planted VGM Modules to securely anchor. The completed installation turned the pitch roof and wall from what would have been bare, ordinary and unattractive building features into eye-pleasing and therapeutic green roofs and vertical gardens.
A total of 1630 VGM modules were used for this construction.
The skyrise greenery reflects contemporary research that highlights the significant influence greenery and nature in the built environment has on health and wellbeing, especially beneficial in the setting of the children’s hospital.

VersiJack
11,000 VersiJack pedestals were installed to support expansive raised paver areas in the hospital grounds. Spacer Tabs and Slope Correctors used on the pedestals enabled consistent gaps between pavers to be maintained and allowed compensation for any slope to fall for drainage on the installation surfaces respectively.
Height extensions and minor adjustments were easily achieved by adding extenders and by screw adjustment of the pedestals, and desired heights locked down with the pedestals’ integrated locking rings. The void created beneath the paver platforms allowed miscellaneous services to be hidden.

The vertical greenery, sloping green roof and raised paver areas of the hospital form a protective and insulating shield that helps to cool the hospital building. Not only eye-pleasing, the vertical and rooftop greenery help to reduce the carbon footprint of the hospital, assist in at-source stormwater management, mitigate urban heat island effect, whilst at the same time also creating a therapeutic green and healing green environment for the patients and staff of the hospital and visitors to enjoy.
