The Fashion Valley Mall is an upscale, open-air shopping mall in Mission Valley in San Diego, California. The shopping center is the largest mall in San Diego and one of the largest in California.
The 75 sq m living wall comprises 250 VGM modules planted with over 4000 plants, mounted onto stainless steel pilasters secured to metal unistrut frame attached to the building. Besides allowing easy mounting and replacement of modules, when necessary, the versatile VGM® modular system also allowed modules to be arranged to create attractive design patterns on the living wall.
Because pre-planting of the VGM modules had allowed the plants to grow in so well, the plants already cover most of the pilaster and module sections immediately after the initial installation, creating an almost instant living wall.

Well pleased with the living wall, Simon Properties (the owners) are said to be exploring opportunities to feature the VGM Green Wall at their other facilities.
