Leading landscape engineering designer and manufacturer Elmich has launched a modular green wall system VersiWall® GT (VGT) which fulfils fire safety requirements, particularly for indoor green walls.
Urbanisation has led to both population and economic growth in the cities and the biggest challenge of greening in highly-urbanised areas, is space. Owners, architects, designers and professionals in the built industry are embracing vertical gardens, also termed as vertical greenery, green walls or living walls in their projects as an alternative interior façade. The popularity of vertical gardens in buildings was driven by the innovative use of unused spaces, its aesthetic value, environmental benefits and improving the wellbeing of its occupants.
The proliferation of green walls has triggered Elmich to launch a new system designed to be handy, safe and strong for a comprehensive support for indoor vertical greenery.
VGT is manufactured from an extremely durable material and fulfils fire safety requirements which are some of the essential design considerations when it comes to the installation of green walls.
The system consists of rows of pilasters attached to a structure, onto which the trays and irrigation system are simply hooked. Irrigation pipes can be neatly hidden behind the plants.
Additionally, the extruded pilasters which are supplied in standard 1.2 meters height and trays in 1 metre length can be easily cut to any length both on and off-site for a high level of flexibility to allow creativity in design.
An added feature is that the system allows for pre-planting with established plants creating an instant mature green wall, for maximum visual impact in a short period of time.
