Opened in 2010, the 49-hectare Resorts World Sentosa houses Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park, the world’s largest oceanarium, six unique hotels including Hard Rock Hotel, and a casino.

Solar panels and green roofs are two sustainable green elements of Universal Studios Singapore that were extensively integrated into the theme park’s concept and design, demonstrating its firm commitment to energy conservation and responsible environmental management.

The park’s massive green roof is the largest in Asia, measuring roughly 35,0000 sq m (about 370,000 sq ft). The green roof serves as an insulating shield against Singapore’s tropical temperatures, aiding in the cooling of building interiors and their immediate surroundings, mitigating the urban heat island effect, and enhancing the park’s aesthetics.

Plants are placed on 2 types of roof designs: a regular low-slope reinforced concrete flat roof and a sloped Corus Kalzip profiled metal roof.

Elmich Green Roof was constructed with VersiDrain® 25P water retention and drainage layers, EnviroMix® GRs, and VersiCell® structural drainage, and insulation cells.

Fast-track construction of the Park demanded that the system be light and easy to install.
