Heartware Network, a charity organization dedicated to youth development, recently made the move into a new office space, complete with a green wall to liven up the working space.

Elmich sponsored a green wall system for Heartware Network’s new office in collaboration with DP Architects’ latest Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The grand opening ceremony was held on July 17, 2018, and was officiated by Guest-of-Honor Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development.

Heartware Network seeks to instil positive values and build strong character in youths between the ages of 14 and 35. The organization is committed to transforming the lives of under-served youths, empowering them with the right values to achieve a brighter future.  The new space will house the Heartware Network office and will be used for conducting youth leadership courses, orientations for youth volunteers, and as the headquarters for youth leaders to plan community events.

The new office space features a living green wall as the backdrop of the common area. Upon entering the office, the green wall is immediately visible, giving visitors an inviting and warm feeling. The installation of this green wall fulfilled one of the key design strategies of being eco-conscious and smart. Condensate formed from the air-conditioning system was used to irrigate the plants, reducing the utility costs while improving the sustainability and green impact of the office. Moreover, an indoor green wall serves multiple purposes and is favoured for its environmental and health benefits. For example, studies have shown that the presence of green walls can help reduce the impact of work-related stressors (An et al., 2016).

VersiWall® GP LW lightweight potted green wall was recommended for its lightweight, low-maintenance and flexible characteristics, available in two different lengths of 250 mm and 500 mm, to provide designers and installers with a practical solution for an indoor green wall.
