Bukit Canberra Integrated Hub - Green Spaces

Bukit Canberra Integrated Hub

Location

Bukit Canberra Integrated Hub, Singapore

Specifications

  1. Establish Fire Engine Accessway at Community Lawn
  2. Provide Drainage System Beneath Intensive and Extensive Green Roofs
  3. Establish Sustainable Stormwater Management System

Solution

Establish Fire Engine Accessway at Community Lawn (Image 1)
Emergency fire engine access areas were created on the community lawn using TurfPave® XD grass pavers installed beneath the ground. TurfPave® XD’s porous structure allows rainwater to infiltrate the ground, protecting the grass roots against compaction and effectively supporting loads imposed by large fire trucks and human traffic.

Provide Drainage System Beneath Intensive Green Roofs (Image 2 to 4)
VersiCell® lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were installed beneath the planting soil at the butterfly garden on level 2 and therapeutic gardens on the roof terraces on level 3 to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.

Provide Drainage System Beneath Extensive Green Roofs (Image 5 to 12)
VersiCell® lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were also installed beneath the top planting media on the building’s structure, pick-up/drop-off point shelter, and covered walkways to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.

Establish Sustainable Stormwater Management System (Image 13 to 16)
VersiTank® modular detention/retention tanks were assembled to construct ABC Waters design features, such as bioretention basins, earth drains and bioswales, that aid in sustainable stormwater management.

One Farrer Hotel

Location

One Farrer Hotel, Singapore

Specifications

Establish a landscape deck that is resistant to mould and algae in the hotel’s open terraces at level 6.

Solution

VersiJack® height and slope adjustable pedestals were used to support raised pavers on One Farrer Hotel’s newly renovated open terraces at level 6.

Splash Pad
1. A constant 4 mm gap between pavers maintained by Spacer Tabs mounted on the pedestal tops allows water issuing from the fountain spouts to seemingly disappear upon coming into contact with the paver surface, keeping areas beyond the boundaries of the raised paver area completely dry.

2. The pump mechanism and required cabling for the pump are safely and unobstructively hidden in the void space beneath the raised pavers.

3. A layer of porous EPDM rubber flooring was then installed onto the pavers.

Green Lawn (Artificial Turf)
VersiCell® was installed to provide drainage beneath the artificial turf.

Marina One

Location

Marina One, Singapore

Specifications

To create a lightweight and efficient drainage layer for landscaped areas.

To create a raised paving system in the M&E facility.

To provide waterproofing in several areas.

Solution

2,700 sqm of VersiCell® sub-surface drainage cells were installed as the drainage layer for landscaped areas. With its narrow profile, VersiCell® allows for greater soil depth to accommodate a larger variety of plants than drainage media like gravel.

5500 units of VersiPave® lightweight paver supports were used to create a raised paving system. Independent chocks on pedestals enable minor height adjustments at each paver corner to ensure a levelled surface for pavers with varying thickness.

Fleximent® 201, Bitulen® 180, Eurathane® 2000 and Synthaprufe waterproofing membranes were also used in several areas of the development.
