To provide a modular vertical greening system to enable planting of a wall specifically erected for demonstration and display of various green wall systems at the HortPark.

Solution

Steel anchoring pilasters were installed on the full face of the wall with careful attention to alignment. VGMs holding primarily soil-less lightweight planting media contained in a geotextile bag were pre-planted in a nursery environment. Front and rear metal support frames are added to the VGMs on site to provide reinforcement and facilitate anchorage onto the pilasters. A drip irrigation system delivers timed release of water and nutrients to the plants. VGMs can be individually dismounted from and re-mounted onto the pilasters to allow for easy maintenance or replacement if necessary.

To provide a modular vertical greening system to enable planting on both sides of a decorative free-standing wall at the entrance of the condominium.

Solution

A steel support frame was installed providing the centre skeleton and anchoring support. VGMs each containing a geotextile bag filled with specially mixed soil-less lightweight planting media and pre-planted in a nursery environment were mounted directly onto both sides of the centre anchoring support. Water and nutrients to sustain plant growth is supplied by a drip irrigation system.

TO provide a modular vertical greening system to enable planting on 2 symmetrical walls of 250 m2 each up to a height of 3 storeys.

Solution

VGMs, comprising a geotextile bag filled with lightweight planting media were pre-planted with Asplenium and various species of ferns in a nursery environment prior to installation. Encased in support frames on site, the VGMs were then mounted directly onto the slightly concave walls and a drip irrigation system installed to supply regular water and nutrients to the plants.

Solution

VersiJack pedestals with bearer holders and spacer tabs were installed to support bearers and pavers respectively beside the swimming pool. The resultant paved area is a combination of wooden decking and pavers which creates a pleasant and attractive pool deck area. The raised pavers and decking hides services, facilitates efficient drainage of water from the surface and eliminates the possibility of efflorescence forming on the pavers.

Solution

VersiJack high strength pedestals extended with 9 extenders to approximately 800 mm were positioned in a deep trough to support heavy pavers to create a void beneath with sufficient depth to conceal an elaborate pump system for a water fountain feature. Necessary adjustments for slope and height were made with the integrated slope corrector and screw and locking ring system in the pedestal respectively and minor height differentials corrected with rubber shims. The water fountain feature with programmed light and water display is now a point of focus on the ground floor of the shopping mall.

To provide efficient drainage and void filler in deep planter boxes.

Solution

VersiTank were assembled and positioned over the waterproofing membrane in the deep planter boxes providing an insulation layer protecting the membrane. A geotextile filter fabric layer was then installed over the tanks and planting media placed in the planter boxes above the geotextile. VersiTank acts as a drainage cell with large internal void as well as a void filler to reduce the volume of planting media required to fill the deep planter boxes. VersiTank has high compressive strength and is able to resist the combine weight of the planting media and the large trees installed in the planter boxes.

To provide efficient drainage under 10,000 m2 of landscaped areas positioned over underground parking areas, to withstand the weight of onsite mechanical equipment, during the installation of soil mix and to bear the weight of large tree plantings.

Solution

VersiCell® interlocking panels were positioned directly onto the waterproofing membrane, providing membrane protection and covered with geotextile. Planting media was positioned on the geotextile and turf and plant species installed.
VersiCell, unlike cuspated drainage sheets, when covered with a minimum 100mm of soil mix, withstands the weight of bobcats and other mechanical equipment during the installation of soil mix. VersiCell also resists the weight of large newly established and mature tree species. VersiCell is three times more efficient than dimpled drainage sheets in capturing and transporting sub-surface water and does not suffer from severe restriction, caused by geotextile sagging between dimples, in cuspated drainage sheets.

VersiCell modules were interlocked into large panels and installed over the waterproofing membrane forming an immediate protective layer above the membrane. Geotextile was then laid over the VersiCell and planting soil positioned on top followed by planting of various colourful plant species arranged in attractive patterns. VersiCell provides the drainage cavity necessary to facilitate the efficient discharge of excess sub-soil water eliminating the need for a gravel course. The landscaped garden is beautiful and provides insulation against extreme temperatures for the building interior.

To provide efficient drainage of excess subsoil water from planter boxes on the top deck and perimeter rim and landscaped centre courtyard of the terminal building and the intensive green roof of the adjoining car park.

Solution

VersiCell modules interlocking both vertically and horizontally were positioned over the waterproofing membrane in both the open landscaped areas and the inner walls of the planter boxes and covered with geotextile. Planting media was positioned on the geotextile and turf and plant species installed. Gatherings and functions are held on the landscaped car park rooftop and the landscaped green areas of the terminal building are aesthetically pleasing and help to keep the building interior cool.

Solution

Planting media was then positioned on the geotextile and turf installed. VersiCell’s lightweight structure, high compressive strength, rapid water capture and highly efficient drainage capability as well as its ability to be easily joined into large panels on site made it the ideal drainage module for the extensively large sloping roof of the Marina Barrage.
