Esplanade Park and Empress Place, Singapore
Provide adequate breathing space for healthy root growth for trees established in pedestrian pavements.
StrataVault (300 kPA load strength) root cells were installed in 1.35 x 1.35 m (wide) x 1m (deep) tree pits. Aeration, subsurface drainage and service pipes are fitted within the system matrix. Subsequently, Geotextile/Grid was placed and tucked into the side of the StrataVault system. RootGard was placed along the seawall to prevent root intrusion. Soil backfill begins and tree is planted into tree pit. The construction is completed with finishing works and placement of slabs/pavers.
The entire project utilised a total of approximately 2,500 modules covering across 700 sq m.
