Five minutes walk away from Sembawang MRT station lies Bukit Canberra, a 12-hectare Integrated Sport and Community Hub with a regenerative design. Opening in phases, Bukit Canberra currently houses an indoor sports hall, a polyclinic, an indoor and outdoor gym, swimming pools, childcare and senior centres, an 800-seat hawker centre, and numerous small to large green spaces.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Community Lawn (Events Space)<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Emergency fire engine access areas were created on the community lawn using TurfPave\u00ae<\/sup> XD<\/a> grass pavers installed beneath the ground. TurfPave\u00ae<\/sup> XD<\/a>\u2019s porous structure allows rainwater to infiltrate the ground, protecting the grass roots against compaction and effectively supporting loads imposed by large fire trucks and human traffic.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\"Community[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Butterfly Garden & Therapeutic Gardens (Intensive Green Roof)<\/strong><\/h1>\n

VersiCell\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were installed beneath the planting soil at the butterfly garden on level 2 and therapeutic gardens on the roof terraces on level 3 to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.<\/p>\n

Extensive Green Roofs<\/strong><\/h1>\n

VersiCell\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> lightweight, high strength modular drainage cells were also installed beneath the top planting media on the building\u2019s structure, pick-up\/drop-off point shelter, and covered walkways to facilitate efficient drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging. Additionally, drip irrigation systems were added to ensure the health of the vegetation.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Stormwater Management<\/strong><\/h1>\n

VersiTank\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> modular detention\/retention tanks were assembled to construct ABC Waters design features, such as bioretention basins, earth drains and bioswales, that aid in sustainable stormwater management.<\/p>\n
