Expected to be completed in 2022, the Build-To-Order (BTO) Bidadari estate spans 930,000 sqm and holds 10,000 flats. The highly sought-after estate is envisioned to be “a community in a garden” that highlights greenery as its enviable feature, with a 100,000 sqm Bidadari Park containing a lake, open lawns, a heritage walk and experiential trails.
Within the Alkaff district of Bidadari lies the 16-block Alkaff Oasis, a Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Award (GoldPlus) project with facilities including a Residents’ Committee, a childcare centre and green features such as accessible roof gardens and sky terraces. The Alkaff Oasis project called for several trees to be planted in open, elevated areas that would be exposed to high-speed winds.
To address the concern of tree uprooting due to strong wind uplift, D-MAN® Rootball Anchors were used to anchor 60 trees firmly in place. The D-MAN® Rootball Anchor System is a Platipus tree anchoring system that is strong, compact, lightweight, and able to support trees of up to 45 cm in circumference and 7.5 m in height. The system does not rely on traditional anchors, providing excellent stability to trees while eliminating the risk of damage to underlying waterproofing membranes or other services.
