The National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) provides comprehensive cardiovascular care and is the region’s referral centre, training hub and research institution for cardiovascular medicine. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, green features and 185 beds, patients can benefit from a seamless care delivery and therapeutic environment in this world-class healthcare institute.

The NHCS is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), an international standard-setting and accrediting body for healthcare institutions. It is the first heart centre outside USA and in Asia to receive the prestigious JCI since 2005.

This 12-storey building located at 5 Hospital Drive was officially opened in September 2014. It was awarded the Building and Construction Authority Green Mark Platinum Award, the highest accolade for green building certification in Singapore, for its integration of various energy efficient and eco-friendly features, including the paved and landscaped sky gardens at various levels of the building.

Over 9,000 VersiJack® pedestals were installed to support 2,500 square metres of pavers on the sky gardens located at levels 4, 8 and 12.

In the planter boxes at the sky garden, VersiCell® sub-surface drainage modules provides the necessary drainage beneath the planting media to prevent waterlogging and ponding.

In combination, they make the new heart centre both greener, cooler and create the verdant open-air gardens to enhance the overall experience for its visitors and occupants.
