To provide the Green Roof System to establish extensive green roofs on the RC rooftops of 7 communal buildings, including the gymnasium, clubhouse and meeting rooms, and also on the rooftop of a small narrow shed housing services beside the tennis court of the condominium.
Solution
Elmich Green Roof System, comprising VersiDrain® 25P water retention and drainage sheet, a geotextile filter fabric and EnviroMix® GR, a primarily inorganic soil-less lightweight planting media, was used in the installation of 8 green roofs totaling approximately 565 sq m at Kovan Residences.
Kovan Residences is an eco-luxurious 18,000 sq m development that comes complete with an extensive array of facilities and amenities. The 8 tower blocks of the condominium are set in 2 rows of 4 blocks each, with the swimming pools and other amenities including the gymnasium, sauna, BBQ pits and meeting room running along the centre. Concept of design was derived from the organic shape of a leaf which signifies freshness, a green environment.
Linear landscape running parallel to the outside of the 2 rows of tower blocks and lining the swimming pools, provide a resort-like feel as well as aesthetic and therapeutic benefits.
In line with the eco-theme, the tower blocks are oriented to capture and maximise views of the linear landscape park. Balconies of all units enjoy commanding views of the lush greenery, including Elmich Green Roofs atop the RC roofs of the Gymnasium, Clubhouse, and other communal facilities.
